Unfocused:Noise (Prologue)
or; learning to try something new.
There's something freeing, about being bad at a new hobby.
I recently[1] got into making music, and it's... going.
The idea of producing Computer Music[2] should in and of itself be daunting enough of a task that once I got up to that inevitable self-realization that I'm potentially on either end of the Dunning-Kruger Effect - I should've just bowed out, but I just couldn't quit it.
There's something so freeing, liberating, almost addicting to making something you haven't heard elsewhere, or more often, a bad version of something you've often heard everywhere else.
But it's your own creation and damn if that doesn't feel great.
I made this[3] small little motif during the holiday season of 2024.
Upon listening to it, it's wild how much my sound has evolved in just a few months time, even my ideas about creativity have changed far more than I ever could have imagined.
There's a lot more I want to write about when it comes to creativity, making music, social media, etc.
I'll attempt to make it somewhat more organized than this, but thankfully, I've already committed to this unfocused.xyz domain, so hopefully that will help me in not taking myself too seriously.
I should state that it's more semi-recently, 2022 got into the idea, mid-2023 researched more, end of 2024 - made and released my first song. ↩︎
Originally I was going to state Electronic music here but that would feel off, as I currently am not making EDM for instance, and I imagine most people attach the name Electronic Music to Electronic Dance Music, SO, Computer Music, an older term at the start of this trend, will have to suffice. ↩︎
